Faith-based Leaders Get Educated about HIV/AIDS
Members of Baton Rouge AIDS Society’s Faith-Based AIDS Coalition for Technical assistance and Services (FACTS) recently attended an educational retreat, where they received first-hand, professional training on tackling the HIV/AIDS epidemic. There were 16 churches and faith-based agencies that attended the retreat which, was held on Gulfport, Mississippi from May 31 – June 4, 2010. The participating agencies represented various parishes, such as East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, Ascension, Tangipahoa, and Point Coupee. The training topics included: Bridging Theory and Practice/Applying Behavioral Theory to HIV/STD Prevention, Small Group Facilitation, and How to Conduct Home Health Parties. The FACTS members are expected to take the information learned and utilize it in their respective communities. For more information about the FACTS Program or how you can become active in the fight against HIV/AIDS, contact Baton Rouge AIDS Society at 225-923-2437.
